Nashville, TN – A strong storm system is expected to impact Middle Tennessee overnight Sunday, bringing a heightened risk of tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, the threat begins around 10 p.m. Sunday, March 30, and will last through approximately 7 a.m. Monday. Storms could produce winds exceeding 70 mph, hail up to 2 inches in diameter, and isolated tornadoes, some of which could be strong. The most severe conditions are forecasted in areas including Nashville, Columbia, Franklin, and Murfreesboro, which fall under the “Enhanced Risk” (Level 3 of 5) zone.

Residents are urged to prepare now, especially given the overnight timing of the event. The NWS advises having multiple alert methods that can wake you up, including NOAA Weather Radios and Wireless Emergency Alerts. Those in mobile homes are encouraged to seek shelter in safer locations Sunday evening.

Shelter guidance includes staying in interior rooms away from windows and avoiding upper floors. Forecast timing may shift, so continued monitoring is essential.

Middle Tennessee should remain alert through Monday morning and review safety plans. If storms haven’t arrived by Sunday afternoon, the threat still exists later in the night.
