Tennessee – Tree branches sway and loose leaves skitter across sidewalks this morning across Nashville as strengthening winds sweep into Middle Tennessee. Warm air is building quickly, pushing temperatures toward 76°F today, but gusty winds will dominate the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, a Wind Advisory begins at 8 a.m. and continues through early Monday morning across Davidson County and much of Middle Tennessee. South winds will increase to 15–25 mph with gusts between 40 and 45 mph, strong enough to blow around unsecured objects and snap small limbs.

Drivers across Interstate 40, Interstate 65, and Interstate 24 should expect crosswinds in open areas and elevated bridges. High-profile vehicles could feel the strongest gusts during the afternoon as winds intensify.

Rain and thunderstorms move in tonight as a powerful cold front approaches from the west. According to the National Weather Service, storms developing late tonight could bring brief heavy rain and gusty winds, especially after midnight across Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Clarksville.

Conditions change quickly behind the front. Temperatures plunge Monday as winds turn northwest and colder air pours into the region. Rain showers could briefly mix with light flurries Monday afternoon, a reminder that March weather across Tennessee often swings rapidly between seasons.

Meteorologists are also watching for flash-freeze potential early Monday if temperatures drop quickly while roads remain wet. Bridges and elevated roadways could become slick before sunrise.

After the brief cold snap, sunshine returns by Tuesday with gradually warming temperatures through midweek. By Thursday, Nashville rebounds into the lower 70s, signaling that spring warmth is ready to return.

Secure outdoor items today and plan extra time for travel tonight as winds and storms sweep through Middle Tennessee.
