Tennessee skies are turning grayer by the hour as clouds thicken over Memphis late this morning. The air feels cool but calm, with temperatures climbing toward 60 degrees before rain moves in tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a 50% chance of showers develops mainly before 1 a.m., with rainfall amounts under a tenth of an inch. North winds around 5 mph will shift north-northeast this afternoon, setting up a cooler stretch into the weekend.

Wet roads could develop along I-40 and I-240 after sunset.

Showers taper early Saturday, and skies gradually clear. Highs reach 55 degrees with a light north wind at 5 to 10 mph. Saturday night turns sharply colder as temperatures fall to 31 degrees under clearing skies.

Sunday brings bright sunshine but cooler air, with highs near 49 degrees. North-northwest winds increase to 15 mph, adding a brisk edge. By Sunday night, clear skies allow temperatures to tumble to 24 degrees.

That hard freeze could refreeze any leftover moisture.

Drivers heading out early Monday should watch for slick patches on bridges and overpasses. Late February often brings flash freezing when damp pavement cools quickly after sunset.

Monday stays sunny but chilly, with highs near 41 degrees and lows around 25. Conditions moderate Tuesday, with mostly sunny skies and highs rebounding to 51.

By midweek, temperatures climb into the lower 60s with increasing clouds and renewed shower chances. The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal readings, signaling stronger spring warmth building across the Mid-South.
