According to the National Weather Service, heavy rainfall could cause ponding on major roadways like I-40, I-24, and I-65 during the morning commute. Thunderstorms are likely through mid-afternoon, with brief breaks in intensity. New rainfall amounts may exceed three-quarters of an inch in some areas.
South winds between 5 and 10 mph will accompany Tuesday’s stormy conditions. High temperatures will stay near 78°F in Nashville, while surrounding areas like Franklin, Hendersonville, and Murfreesboro may experience isolated lightning and downpours. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, turn on headlights, and allow extra travel time.
Tuesday night will bring lingering showers with a 70% chance of rain continuing into early Wednesday. However, skies begin clearing by Wednesday afternoon, with partial sunshine and a high of 79°F expected.
Looking ahead, Thursday is shaping up to be the driest day of the week, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 80°F. A slight chance of storms returns Thursday night and Friday, but only a 20–30% chance.
By the weekend, expect a summer-like stretch: sunny, dry, and highs in the low 80s by Saturday and Sunday.
