Nashville, Tenn. – Thunderstorms and heavy humidity will disrupt weekend plans across Middle Tennessee, with the heaviest downpours and lightning expected between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday in Nashville. Patchy fog is also likely before 8 a.m., with daytime highs soaring to 91°F.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, the region faces a 60% to 70% chance of thunderstorms through Monday, with localized rainfall amounts of up to an inch possible in isolated areas. A few storms could become strong, producing brief gusty winds and heavy rain.
Cities including Franklin, Murfreesboro, and Clarksville should prepare for slick roads, low visibility during early morning hours, and the risk of lightning during afternoon travel. Monday morning will bring a fresh round of storms, especially before 11 a.m., followed by partly sunny skies and highs again near 91°F. Heat index values could make it feel closer to 98°F.
Residents are advised to charge devices in case of power outages, avoid flooded roadways, and delay outdoor plans until Tuesday, when drier air begins to return. Use caution if commuting Monday morning, as storms may linger into the early hours.
Storm chances taper off by Tuesday night, with a drier and sunnier stretch expected through the Fourth of July.
