Memphis, TN – A cold snap is set to hit the Mid-South overnight, bringing subfreezing temperatures to much of the region by early Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, high pressure building into the area will create optimal conditions for cooling, especially in locations with clear skies. Many areas have at least a 50% chance of dropping below 32°F by sunrise.

Residents should prepare for frosted surfaces and colder-than-average temperatures throughout Friday. Sensitive plants should be protected, and outdoor pipes may need insulation to prevent freezing.

With temperatures expected to dip below freezing in parts of Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas, drivers should remain cautious of possible frost on bridges and overpasses during the morning commute.
