Nashville, Tennessee – Thunderstorms will sweep through Middle Tennessee starting Monday morning, threatening travel conditions and outdoor events in the Nashville metro.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and a few thunderstorms are expected after 7 a.m. Monday, with the highest rain chances during the morning commute. Rain continues through the day, and a 90% chance of thunderstorms returns Monday night, especially between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Isolated downpours could lead to ponding on roads including I-24, I-65, and major surface streets across Davidson and Rutherford counties.

Showers taper off Tuesday afternoon, but wet weather lingers through at least Wednesday. Calm winds and temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s will make it feel muggy across much of the region. Rainfall amounts may range between a quarter and half an inch each day, with locally higher totals possible in thunderstorms.

Drivers should allow extra time Monday and Monday night, especially near construction zones and low-lying areas prone to pooling water. If thunder roars, head indoors — lightning is a leading warm-season hazard in Tennessee.

Looking ahead, Wednesday offers a brief break with partly sunny skies and a high near 84°F, but rain chances return Thursday and Friday. By Saturday, another round of showers is expected, capping off a soggy spring week.

More updates are expected from NWS as new models arrive. Weather alerts remain possible through midweek.
