NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a stretch of warm, sunny days, Middle Tennessee’s calm weather will take a stormy turn by Saturday night. Residents across the Nashville area, including those traveling along I-40, should prepare for gusty winds and a few rounds of rain before cooler air arrives Sunday.

Thursday and Friday will stay sunny and mild, with highs reaching the low 80s—a final dose of early fall warmth before changes roll in. Friday evening remains mostly clear, offering excellent conditions for outdoor events, concerts, or high school football games. However, a strengthening cold front over the Mississippi Valley will push showers into Tennessee by late Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered storms may develop between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. Saturday night. Some thunderstorms could bring heavy downpours, gusts near 25 mph, and brief lightning. While severe weather isn’t expected, heavy rain may slow travel, especially on stretches of I-24 and I-65 around Davidson and Williamson counties.

Sunday will usher in a cooler, breezier pattern with highs near 72°F and clearing skies by afternoon—perfect for fall leaf viewing, pumpkin patches, or Titans tailgates.

Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday will stay dry and pleasant, with highs in the upper 70s. Another light rain chance could return by midweek, but no major systems are on the horizon.
