Nashville, Tenn. – Tennessee drivers may face slick conditions on I-40 and I-65 late Sunday as thunderstorms roll into Middle Tennessee. The National Weather Service warns that while heat will remain the main story, storm chances increase heading into early next week. Residents should plan for shifting travel conditions and monitor updates closely.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, highs will climb into the mid-90s through Saturday, with heat holding near 92 degrees Sunday. Storms become more likely after 1 p.m. Sunday, continuing into Sunday night with 20 percent chances of rain and localized downpours. Winds remain light but may gust with stronger cells.

Saturday looks hot and mostly dry, with only isolated storm chances late in the day. By Sunday afternoon, clouds build quickly, and scattered showers are possible across Davidson, Williamson, and Wilson counties. Commuters returning Sunday evening should allow extra time on I-24, I-65, and secondary routes, where wet pavement could cause delays.

Looking ahead, storm chances increase to 40 percent Monday and Tuesday, with highs remaining in the low 90s. South winds between 5 and 10 mph may help spread storm coverage, especially during afternoon hours. While severe weather is not expected at this time, lightning and brief heavy rainfall remain possible with any storm.

Stay weather-aware and consider adjusting outdoor plans. Alerts may be updated as storm chances rise.
