Tennessee Weather Alert: Mississippi River Flood Warning Hits Memphis Roads Through Wednesday Morning

Memphis, TN – Spring sunshine returns this weekend, but a serious weather alert remains for Memphis and surrounding areas as flooding continues to threaten roadways along the Mississippi River.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a Flood Warning remains in effect until 4 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, for the Mississippi River at Memphis. At 36 feet, water is expected to impact parts of the Fullen Dock area and Loosahatchie River roads, with flooding already beginning near Riverside Park Marina.

Residents are urged not to drive through flooded roads and to heed all barricades. Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. The river is forecast to rise above flood stage Saturday, cresting at 36.0 feet early Wednesday before slowly receding.

  • Saturday: Sunny, high near 65°F. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph.
  • Sunday: Sunny and breezy, high near 77°F with gusts up to 30 mph.
  • Monday: Mostly sunny, high of 78°F.
  • Monday Night: Slight chance of thunderstorms after sunset.
  • Tuesday: Sunny again, high near 68°F.
  • Wednesday: Clear skies, temperatures reaching 72°F.
