Memphis, Tennessee – The calendar may say September, but the Mid-South is heating up like midsummer. Memphis is on track to hit the mid-90s by Wednesday, with no chance of rain and rising fire sensitivity expected through Friday, September 12.

According to the National Weather Service, high pressure will remain firmly planted over the region this week. Temperatures will rise from 84°F on Monday to 94°F by Wednesday, with sunny skies, calm winds, and low humidity creating ideal — and potentially risky — conditions across the I-40 corridor.

NOAA’s 6–10 day precipitation outlook places western Tennessee in a below-normal rainfall zone, confirming that this dry trend is more than temporary. Grasslands, dry fields, and roadside vegetation could become ignition points, especially in areas around Shelby, Fayette, and Tipton counties. Outdoor burning is not advised.

With overnight lows stuck in the mid-to-upper 60s, the region will get little overnight relief as the heat lingers. There’s no measurable rain forecast through the weekend, and long-range models suggest the pattern may hold even longer.
