Memphis, TN – A soft haze drifts across the Mississippi River at dawn, the air thick with moisture and the quiet hum of traffic carrying through the fog. It’s a calm, mild start across the Mid-South — but conditions will shift quickly as rain returns to the region early in the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, skies will remain partly sunny through Sunday with highs near 65°F to 68°F — ideal weather for last-minute outdoor work or early holiday travel. However, beginning Monday afternoon, showers will build from the west with a 40–100% chance of rain, bringing periods of heavy downpours Monday night. Forecasters say 1 to 2 inches of rain are possible in some areas.

Drivers using I-40 and I-55 should plan for slower commutes and potential ponding on roads during heavier rainfall. The heaviest activity is expected late Monday into early Tuesday before skies begin to clear. By Tuesday afternoon, conditions dry out and temperatures hover near 70°F, followed by a noticeable cool-down midweek.

By Thanksgiving Day, the Mid-South looks dry and pleasant — sunny with highs near 70°F — offering ideal travel weather both locally and regionally. National outlooks hint at a colder, stormier stretch developing across much of the U.S. between November 25 and early December, with potential heavy snow farther north from the Plains to the Great Lakes.
