TENNESSEE – A stormy Saturday is on the way for Middle Tennessee as a strong system sweeps across the region, bringing heavy rain and possible thunderstorms before clearing skies take over by Sunday.

The National Weather Service in Nashville reports that showers and storms will likely begin by early Saturday afternoon and continue through the evening, impacting travel and outdoor events. Winds could gust near 25 mph, and a few thunderstorms may produce locally heavy downpours along I-40 and I-65, especially near downtown Nashville and surrounding suburbs.

Residents planning to attend fall festivals, football tailgates, or pumpkin patches should prepare for wet and breezy conditions. Keep umbrellas handy and allow extra time if traveling. Flooding is not expected, but low-lying spots could see brief ponding during heavier rain.

By Sunday, the front pushes east, leaving behind crisp, sunny weather perfect for outdoor activities. Highs will fall to the upper 60s, with lows dipping into the 40s by night—ideal for those autumn backyard bonfires or leaf-viewing drives toward the Cumberland Plateau.

The pleasant trend continues early next week, with sunny skies and highs in the 70s through Tuesday. A weak system could return by midweek, bringing only a slight chance of showers. For now, Nashville can look forward to a refreshing fall reset after Saturday’s stormy spell.
