Memphis, TN – Strong thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected across Memphis on Wednesday, bringing potential flooding and travel disruptions. The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts a 90% chance of rain, with possible thunderstorms between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
According to the NWS, new rainfall amounts between half an inch and three-quarters of an inch could accumulate, making road conditions hazardous. Patchy fog will also linger in the morning, reducing visibility. Residents should use caution during morning commutes, especially on I-240 and I-40, where ponding on roads may occur.
Wednesday night could see additional thunderstorms before 9 p.m., with a 30% chance of lingering showers before midnight. Winds will shift north at 10 mph, bringing drier and cooler air overnight with lows near 32°F.
Looking ahead, Thursday will be partly sunny with highs near 41°F, while Friday offers mostly sunny skies and a warmer 53°F. Another round of rain is likely Friday night.
