Memphis, TN – A stormy end to the week is in store for Memphis as heavy rain and thunderstorms move into the region on Friday. Residents should prepare for wet roads, gusty winds, and potential travel disruptions.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will continue through the morning, with thunderstorms possible before noon. Winds will shift from the east to the southwest, reaching gusts up to 25 mph. Temperatures will peak near 66°F before dropping to the low 50s overnight. Rainfall totals between 0.75 and 1 inch are expected, with localized flooding possible in low-lying areas.

The stormy conditions will clear by Friday night, making way for a sunnier weekend. Saturday will see mostly sunny skies and a high near 63°F, with calm winds shifting to the northeast. Sunday will be even warmer, with highs reaching 67°F under sunny skies. Light winds will make for a comfortable end to the weekend.

Drivers should exercise caution on I-40 and other major roadways due to wet pavement and reduced visibility during the heaviest downpours. Residents are advised to secure outdoor furniture and loose objects, as strong wind gusts could cause minor damage.

Looking ahead to next week, temperatures will remain mild, with highs in the upper 60s and mostly clear skies through Monday. Rain is not expected until midweek.

Those with outdoor plans this weekend can expect favorable conditions, but Friday’s storms could cause delays or temporary disruptions. It’s best to keep an umbrella handy and stay weather-aware.
