Nashville, Tenn. – Relentless heat will grip Middle Tennessee on Tuesday, July 29, with heat index values surging past 109° in the afternoon — and little relief until Wednesday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. CDT Wednesday. The advisory spans a large portion of Middle Tennessee, including Nashville, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Franklin, and Gallatin. Afternoon temperatures Tuesday will soar near 98°F, with humidity pushing the heat index as high as 110°F.
Residents are urged to limit time outdoors between 1–6 p.m. on Tuesday. If you must travel, use caution on highways like I-40 and I-24, especially in urban areas where pavement temperatures spike dangerously. Prolonged exposure may lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
