Nashville, TN – A flood watch has been issued for parts of Tennessee, including Nashville and surrounding counties, from Wednesday evening through Saturday night. This follows predictions of heavy rainfall and the potential for severe storms that could significantly impact local areas.

According to the National Weather Service, rainfall totals are expected to range from 4 to 8 inches in certain regions, with Clarksville and Waverly anticipating the highest amounts. Localized flooding is a concern as already saturated grounds could lead to rapid runoff. The flood watch area includes Columbia, Waynesboro, Smithville, and Tullahoma, all facing significant rainfall totals.

In addition to the flood risk, severe thunderstorms are possible Wednesday evening through the night, bringing damaging winds, hail, and the threat of tornadoes. These storms could extend into Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service advises residents to review their safety plans and prepare for possible disruptions. Those in flood-prone areas should remain vigilant, with flash flooding likely in some spots. Storms are expected to persist into the weekend, increasing risks for ongoing rain and flooding.
