MEMPHIS, TN – A flood advisory remains in effect for Memphis and surrounding areas along the Mississippi River through Sunday afternoon, with additional rain and storms expected early next week. Rising river levels have already impacted roadways, and more rainfall could worsen conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, the Mississippi River at Memphis reached 28.2 feet Friday night and is forecast to rise further, nearing action stage levels. Flooding has already begun along Dacus Lake Road near the I-55 Bridge in Arkansas, with water encroaching on levees near Blue Lake. Residents are advised to avoid flooded roadways and monitor updates for potential closures.
Sunday’s forecast brings sunny conditions with a high of 54°F before clouds increase overnight. By Monday, a 30% chance of morning showers is expected, followed by a high near 62°F with southeast winds up to 10 mph. Monday night brings another round of rain, increasing after midnight with a low of 55°F.
Tuesday poses the highest rain threat, with a 90% chance of showers and potential thunderstorms. Some storms could bring heavy rainfall, leading to renewed flooding risks. Breezy conditions are expected, with gusts up to 35 mph.
The unsettled weather continues into Wednesday with showers tapering off and partly sunny skies returning. Highs will remain in the mid-to-upper 50s through late next week.
