NASHVILLE, TN – Heavy rainfall has led to rising rivers and flooded roadways across Middle Tennessee, prompting flood advisories through Wednesday afternoon. Drivers should avoid water-covered roads, particularly near Percy Priest and Lebanon Road, where flooding has made travel dangerous.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), flood advisories remain in effect for the Cumberland and Stones Rivers in Davidson County. As of Tuesday night, the Cumberland River reached 31 feet, with water encroaching on the riverfront near Nissan Stadium. Meanwhile, the Stones River hit 23.3 feet, submerging sections of the Stones River Greenway and low-lying areas.
A Flood Advisory for the Cumberland River is in place until at least Wednesday afternoon, while the Stones River remains under advisory until further notice. Residents should expect continued road closures and potential property flooding in vulnerable areas.
Looking ahead, Nashville’s forecast includes a 40% chance of rain on Thursday morning, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 49°F. By Friday, conditions will improve, bringing mostly sunny skies and a high of 62°F. The weekend remains mild, with temperatures climbing into the mid-60s under clear skies.
