Nashville, TN – A flash flood warning for Davidson, Cheatham, Sumner, and Wilson counties in Middle Tennessee has been extended until 4 a.m. CST Sunday as heavy rain continues to batter the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, Doppler radar detected thunderstorms producing between 1 and 3 inches of rain, with an additional 1 to 2 inches expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or imminent, particularly in low-lying and poorly drained areas.
Urban flooding may impact streets, highways, and underpasses across Nashville, Gallatin, Lebanon, Hendersonville, and Mount Juliet. Small creeks and streams could also overflow, affecting rural areas like Kingston Springs, Pegram, and Rural Hill.
Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads and remain cautious, especially at night when flood dangers are harder to spot. The NWS emphasizes that most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles.
For safety, turn around if roads are flooded, and stay informed through local weather alerts as conditions evolve overnight.
