Memphis, Tennessee – A sharp warm-up is set to push temperatures near record levels across the Mid-South by Thursday, bringing a quick shift from mild spring air to early summer-like heat.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, temperatures will climb steadily after a near-normal Tuesday, with highs reaching the 70s Wednesday before jumping into the mid-80s by Thursday. Memphis is expected to hit around 86°F, while nearby cities like Jackson, Jonesboro, and Tupelo also climb into the mid-80s.

This warming trend will be driven by southerly winds pulling warmer air into the region, creating above-average conditions across west Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and eastern Arkansas. Cities like Oxford, Clarksdale, and Forrest City will see similar spikes, with some locations nearing daily record highs.

A slight shift arrives Friday, when a 20 to 30 percent chance of showers develops, mainly during the evening and overnight hours. While rainfall amounts appear limited, the change signals an approaching cold front.

By the weekend, cooler air settles in, dropping highs back into the 60s and 70s across the region.

The warmest conditions will peak Thursday afternoon, with additional updates expected as the late-week cooldown approaches.
