Huntsville, Alabama – Temperatures are climbing fast across North Alabama today, with highs pushing into the low 80s this afternoon before an even warmer surge arrives Sunday, followed by a sharp cooldown that will be noticeable by the Monday morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, dry conditions will dominate most of the region through Sunday afternoon, despite a few isolated showers developing north and east of the area today. Highs will reach between 80 and 84 degrees today, then climb to 82 to 86 degrees Sunday under partly sunny skies.
A cold front arrives late Sunday night, bringing a brief window for scattered showers and thunderstorms before temperatures drop significantly. By Monday, highs fall back into the upper 60s to low 70s, with overnight lows dipping into the mid to upper 40s.
Cities including Decatur, Florence, and Scottsboro will feel the biggest swing, with nearly a 15-degree drop in daytime highs and cooler mornings returning after the front passes.
Residents should prepare for changing conditions by late Sunday night, especially if traveling. While severe weather is not the primary concern, brief downpours and gusty winds may impact overnight travel.
Cooler, drier air settles in through Tuesday, with additional updates possible if storm coverage increases Sunday night.
