Huntsville, Alabama – Quiet and sunny weather will carry North Alabama through today, but a noticeable and prolonged warming trend is set to take hold as the new workweek begins, pushing temperatures well above normal and reintroducing rain chances by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, dry conditions will dominate today with sunshine giving way to increasing high clouds later this afternoon and evening. Highs will reach the mid to upper 50s, with overnight lows dropping into the upper 30s to near 40 under partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Beginning Monday, temperatures will climb sharply as warmer air moves into the Tennessee Valley. Afternoon highs will rise into the lower to mid-60s Monday, then push into the upper 60s and low 70s by Wednesday and Thursday. Both daytime highs and overnight lows are expected to run 15 to 20 degrees above normal for early January.

Cloud cover will increase through midweek, and spotty light rain becomes possible Tuesday, with rain chances expanding further by Thursday. While rainfall looks light and scattered at this point, wet roads could impact travel at times, especially during the morning and evening commute.

Huntsville, Decatur, Athens, and Scottsboro will all experience the warmer conditions, making it feel more like early spring than mid-winter. The warm pattern holds through late week, with additional rain chances likely to evolve as systems move through the region. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates as timing and coverage of rain become clearer.
