Huntsville, AL – A fast-moving line of thunderstorms will sweep through northern Alabama and southern middle Tennessee overnight, bringing the potential for damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and isolated flooding early Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, storms will move from west to east between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday, affecting areas including Florence, Huntsville, Cullman, and Fort Payne. Wind gusts could reach 50 to 60 mph, with a very low risk for an isolated tornado.

Forecasters say the storms will develop ahead of a cold front, producing brief but intense rainfall and strong gusts capable of downing tree limbs or causing minor power outages. Drivers are advised to use caution during early morning travel, as ponding on roads and reduced visibility are possible.

The severe threat should diminish by sunrise Sunday as the front moves eastward, followed by cooler and breezy conditions later in the day.
