HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Summer heat is making an untimely return to the Tennessee Valley this weekend, with highs expected to push into the low 90s through at least midweek. The stretch of hot, dry days comes after a brief break from summer-like conditions earlier this month.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, temperatures will run 5 to 7 degrees above normal for mid-September, topping out near 92° from Monday through Wednesday. While dew points will remain relatively low, keeping heat indices below 100, forecasters warn that heat illness remains a concern without proper precautions.

Communities across northern Alabama, including Huntsville, Decatur, and Florence, can expect dry skies and steady sunshine through midweek. The lack of rain means no relief for already dry ground conditions, and residents are urged to stay hydrated and avoid leaving children or pets in vehicles.

The National Weather Service emphasizes practicing heat safety despite the lower humidity, noting that prolonged exposure in the afternoons could be dangerous, especially for outdoor workers and athletes.

The stretch of above-normal warmth is expected to persist into the latter half of the week, with no rainfall forecast until further notice.
