Deer Lodge, TN – Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) troopers are assisting Morgan County authorities after a powerful storm, possibly a tornado, caused significant damage late Thursday night near midnight. Emergency crews are surveying destruction and searching for potential victims in the Deer Lodge area.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, nearly 30 troopers have been deployed to assist Morgan County deputies and Emergency Management Agency (EMA) personnel. The teams are working to assess structural damage, clear debris, and ensure resident safety.

Several homes and buildings sustained severe damage, and emergency responders are prioritizing search-and-rescue efforts. While no fatalities have been confirmed, authorities urge residents to report any missing individuals or hazardous conditions.

The storm system brought intense winds and heavy rainfall as it moved through Tennessee. Meteorologists and the National Weather Service are evaluating whether a tornado officially touched down in Morgan County. A survey team is expected to inspect the damage and determine the storm’s classification.

Officials advise residents to use caution while crews continue clearing debris and restoring services. Those in need of assistance should contact local emergency services for support.
