Tennessee Teen Shot, Arrested After Allegedly Firing at Shelby County Deputy

Shelby County, TN – A 19-year-old man was shot and arrested Saturday after allegedly opening fire on deputies in Cordova.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Mirage Lane and Spanish Trail Lane. Deputies were responding to a report of a suspicious person when they encountered the suspect, identified as Tyler Johnson. Johnson allegedly fired at the deputies, prompting one to return fire, striking him in the hand.

According to the sheriff’s office, Johnson was treated by Shelby County Fire and transported to Regional One in non-critical condition. Deputies recovered a weapon at the scene, and no law enforcement officers were injured during the exchange.

Johnson now faces multiple charges, including two counts of criminal attempt second-degree murder, employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and theft of property related to the firearm.
