Memphis, Tennessee – Scorching summer heat will push the Memphis metro into dangerous territory Friday, with “feels like” temperatures climbing as high as 105°F.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 9 p.m. CDT Friday, covering much of West Tennessee, North Mississippi, East Arkansas, and Southeast Missouri. The advisory includes Memphis, Bartlett, Germantown, Southaven, and surrounding suburbs.
With afternoon highs around 95°F Friday and humidity nearing 70%, the heat index will exceed 100°F, increasing the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor activity between noon and 6 p.m., especially along Interstate 40, where heavy vehicle traffic could amplify exposure risks.
Health officials recommend drinking fluids, wearing loose clothing, and checking on older neighbors. If you see signs of heat stroke—confusion, dizziness, or nausea—seek medical help immediately.
Looking ahead, the heat eases only slightly into the weekend, with highs around 94°F on Saturday and Sunday, along with a 40-50% chance of afternoon thunderstorms each day. Storms will be scattered, but heavy downpours and gusty winds are possible.
Monday continues hot with a high near 94°F before stronger storms return Monday night into Tuesday.
⚠️ Stay weather-aware this weekend and check back for updates as storm chances increase early next week.
