Crossville, TN – A student at Stone Memorial High School has been charged after allegedly making a threat of mass violence against the school on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, several students reported the concerning statements to a teacher, who immediately alerted officials. The District Threat Response Team, which included school administrators, Crossville Police, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Office of Homeland Security, responded to the report.

Authorities said the school’s Threat Assessment Team quickly contained the situation, gathering statements and verifying information. No weapons were found, and officials confirmed that no students were ever in immediate danger.

As a result of the swift response, school operations continued without interruption, and no lockdown was necessary. The juvenile suspect will be charged under Tennessee Code T.C.A. 39-16-517 for making a Threat of Mass Violence on School Property.

Cumberland County Sheriff Casey Cox encouraged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious or threatening behavior related to schools or public buildings. “We are committed to investigating every threat received to ensure the safety of our schools and all citizens,” the release stated.

Officials stressed that while the threat was contained quickly, community awareness remains a vital part of preventing potential incidents.
