Memphis, TN –
A tornado threat looms across Tennessee this afternoon as severe storms target the Mid-South with damaging winds and large hail.

According to the National Weather Service Memphis office, a slight risk for severe weather is in effect Thursday, April 10, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., with the primary concerns being hail and strong winds. A weak tornado remains possible, though chances are low at around 2%.

Storms will move from northwest to southeast, impacting areas including Jackson, Dyersburg, Union City, and Memphis. Rainfall totals are expected to stay under 0.5 inches, meaning flooding is unlikely to worsen despite ongoing issues in some communities.

The highest risk zone includes West Tennessee and neighboring parts of northeast Mississippi and eastern Arkansas. Residents are urged to stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive alerts.

To stay safe, officials recommend parking vehicles under cover, securing outdoor items, and planning for quick shelter access if warnings are issued.
