Nashville, TN -Damaging winds and pea-sized hail are threatening Middle Tennessee as a severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for Nashville, Brentwood, and Smyrna until 5:45 p.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, gusts could reach up to 60 miles per hour, with the strongest storms moving through central Davidson, Williamson, and Rutherford counties. More than 745,000 people, 101 schools, and 17 hospitals lie within the warning area.

Residents in Oak Hill, Nolensville, Walterhill, and nearby communities should expect hazardous driving conditions, fallen branches, and possible power outages. Emergency managers urge everyone to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and secure outdoor items that could become projectiles. Hail is possible and could cause damage to vehicles and roofs, especially in exposed areas.
