Memphis, Tennessee – Strong to severe thunderstorms could sweep across the Mid-South Tuesday afternoon, bringing the risk of damaging wind gusts and hail to parts of Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a Level 2 (Slight Risk) is in place for scattered severe storms between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday, April 29. Storms are expected to move from the southwest to the northeast, with primary threats including 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. A Marginal Risk (Level 1) for isolated severe storms continues into Wednesday evening, April 30, mainly after sunset.
Communities including Memphis, Jackson, and West Memphis should be prepared for sudden weather changes during the evening commute. Motorists are urged to use caution on I-40, I-55, and I-22 during peak storm times. Residents should secure loose outdoor items, charge mobile devices, and review severe weather plans.
