Memphis, Tenn. – A stretch of comfortable late-summer weather will hold over the Mid-South into next week as cooler and drier air continues to flow into the region. Humidity levels are expected to stay unusually low, giving Memphis and surrounding cities a break from the muggy conditions typical for late August.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, an upper-level trough over the eastern U.S. is driving the pattern, with dew points across Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and eastern Arkansas holding mainly in the 50s and low 60s through Thursday. That means dry air will linger from Jackson to Tupelo and Oxford, with Memphis seeing dew points as low as 58°F over the weekend.
The cooler trend also comes with slightly below-normal afternoon highs, expected to continue into mid-September. Residents can expect more comfortable evenings and mornings, a welcome change for outdoor events, school activities, and travel across western Tennessee and northern Mississippi.
Officials say the pleasant conditions are likely to last several more days, though warmer and more humid air could return later in September.
