Nashville, TN – A 23-year-old man has been returned to Nashville from Louisiana and charged in connection with the April killings of two Alabama men found shot in the woods between the Lincoya Bay Apartments and Percy Priest Lake.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, Josue Daniel Hernandez-Moxje faces two counts of criminal homicide for the April 28 deaths of Amir Landan Wilkerson, 19, and Jaime Valdez-Garcia, 18, both of Alabaster, Alabama. The two victims had traveled to Nashville in Wilkerson’s vehicle on Sunday, April 27 and were discovered fatally shot the next day.
MNPD’s Homicide and Specialized Investigations Division led the case with assistance from federal ATF and Homeland Security agents. Investigators reportedly identified Hernandez-Moxje, a native of Honduras, after tracing a license plate from a vehicle tied to the case. The plate was flagged in Kenner, Louisiana, where Hernandez-Moxje was allegedly found driving the vehicle.
Authorities in Kenner arrested Hernandez-Moxje on June 6 on outstanding Nashville warrants, including domestic violence, theft and bad check allegations. Police said forensic testing linked evidence from the vehicle to the April double homicide.
In coordination with the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office, warrants for the homicide charges were issued Friday. Hernandez-Moxje was transported back to Nashville and booked late Monday.
Police said the investigation remains active and additional charges could follow.
