Montgomery County, TN – Authorities have apprehended a man who barricaded himself inside Lifepoint Church Friday morning after crashing his vehicle nearby.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Jose Salvador Martinez, 35, locked himself in the church’s pantry and refused to communicate with negotiators. Deputies, assisted by Clarksville Police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, forced the door open in an attempt to make contact. Martinez allegedly resisted and became combative before being taken into custody.
Martinez was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led him to enter the church and barricade himself. Charges against him are pending.
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about Martinez to contact Sgt. Inman at 931-648-0611 ext. 13424.
