Jonesborough, TN – A Brentwood man was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly leading deputies on a high-speed chase that ended in a motorcycle crash, authorities said.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies observed a red sport bike traveling at a high rate of speed along West State of Franklin Road and University Parkway around 6 p.m. The rider, later identified as 23-year-old John Michael Clark, allegedly ran a red light, nearly struck another vehicle, and turned onto Jack Vest Drive. Deputies canceled the pursuit due to heavy traffic in the area.
Deputies later discovered that Clark had wrecked the motorcycle at the roundabout on Jack Vest Drive, where he was found and checked for injuries. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene, along with East Tennessee State University Police, who then requested the Tennessee Highway Patrol to handle the crash investigation.
Authorities said Clark was transported to the Washington County Detention Center and charged with reckless endangerment, evading arrest, reckless driving, running a red light, and speeding. His bond was set at $11,000, which he posted. Clark is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 2.
