Nashville, TN – Summer is making a strong return across Middle Tennessee this week, bringing back hot afternoons and clear skies after what forecasters called a stretch of “false fall.”

According to the National Weather Service Nashville, daytime highs will climb into the upper 80s and 90s through at least next Tuesday, September 16. The warmest conditions are expected Sunday and Monday, when temperatures could reach between 96 and 97 degrees in some areas. Overnight lows will stay relatively comfortable, ranging from the mid-50s to upper 60s.

Forecasters said the dry streak will also continue. Rain chances remain near zero through the middle of next week, with only a slight possibility of showers Tuesday. That means residents should expect plenty of sunshine but also prepare for the return of late-summer heat.

The pattern comes after Tennessee experienced an early taste of fall with cooler-than-average days last week. Meteorologists said this warm-up is typical for September as summer “has its way one last time” before autumn conditions arrive for good.

For those spending time outdoors, the weather service advises staying hydrated and limiting strenuous activity during peak afternoon heat hours. Drivers are also urged to use caution, as sun glare and hot pavement can increase hazards.
