As temperatures in Nashville reach the triple digits by Tuesday, July 22nd, residents are advised to prepare for an extended heat wave through the rest of the week. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday and lasting through 8 p.m. Thursday, with highs expected to climb into the low 100s, making for hazardous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, the heat index — a measure of how hot it feels when humidity is factored in — could top 105°F in some areas. The combination of extreme heat and high humidity will make it feel even hotter, especially between noon and 5 p.m., when outdoor activities should be minimized. Those working outdoors or planning travel on highways like I-40 or I-24 are urged to take necessary precautions.

Nashville residents can expect partly cloudy skies and sweltering temperatures Tuesday afternoon, with highs reaching 98°F. By Wednesday, temperatures will soar again, peaking at 98°F with clear skies. The heat continues Thursday with highs around 96°F before slightly cooler conditions return by Friday.
