Nashville, Tennessee – The heat wave in Tennessee is showing no signs of easing up, with a heat advisory extended through Wednesday. Highs in many areas west of the Cumberland Plateau are expected to feel like 105°F or higher, particularly in cities like Clarksville and Nashville. This extreme heat poses risks, especially to vulnerable populations.

According to the National Weather Service, the heat index will top out at 106°F in Nashville and surrounding areas such as Columbia, Waverly, and Clarksville. The dangerous heat will last throughout the day Monday, between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., with high humidity making it feel even hotter. The NWS is advising residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activities, and check on elderly relatives, children, and pets.

While rain and storm chances are forecast to decrease starting Tuesday, the oppressive heat will persist, with temperatures remaining in the mid-90s. The risk of heat-related illnesses is significant, especially in areas with the highest heat index values.

As the heat wave continues, residents are urged to take precautions, such as staying indoors during peak heat hours and using fans or air conditioning. The National Weather Service will provide further updates on potential shifts in the heat advisory.
