Cordova, TN – An 18-year-old man wanted for a deadly shooting outside a Cordova business was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, following a joint investigation by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) and the U.S. Marshals Service.
According to the SCSO, deputies responded to the 1900 block of Berryhill Road near Chimneyrock Boulevard around 5:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22. Deputies found 18-year-old Antonio Skyes Jr. inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Shelby County Fire paramedics.
Detectives with the SCSO Violent Crimes Unit identified 18-year-old Trenton Harris as the suspect and obtained a warrant for first-degree murder. Investigators learned Harris had allegedly fled Shelby County and was possibly hiding in the Atlanta area. The U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force located Harris at a residence in Atlanta and took him into custody on Thursday without incident.
Harris is currently being held in Georgia and is awaiting extradition back to Shelby County to face the murder charge.
“The swift arrest of Trenton Harris is a testament to the dedication and skill of our detectives,” said Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner in a statement. “I want to thank everyone involved, especially the U.S. Marshals, for their tireless work and teamwork in bringing this individual into custody so quickly. Our agency remains committed to seeking justice for victims and keeping our community safe.”
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the investigation remains ongoing as Harris prepares to return to Tennessee to face charges.
