Nashville, TN – Middle Tennessee residents are in for a sharp turn toward winter weather beginning Sunday night, as much colder air sweeps into the region, according to the US National Weather Service in Nashville.
Forecasters say temperatures will begin to fall Sunday evening, with the coldest period expected Sunday night through Tuesday morning, when lows could dip into the upper teens and 20s.
Light snow is forecast to develop Sunday night into early Monday, primarily across the Cumberland Plateau, where higher elevations could receive up to ½ inch of accumulation. Scattered flurries are also possible across other parts of Middle Tennessee.
Following the brief taste of winter, temperatures are expected to gradually rebound by mid to late week, with highs returning to the mid-50s and 60s by Thursday and Friday.
Residents are urged to protect pets, pipes, and plants ahead of the freeze and use caution on roadways where early morning slick spots may form.
