Memphis, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Memphis has extended a Flood Warning for the Obion River near Obion, Tennessee, with minor flooding expected through Monday morning.
According to the NWS, as of 10 a.m. Friday, the river level was measured at 32.9 feetand is forecast to crest at 34.0 feet by Sunday morning before gradually receding below flood stage early Monday.
Flooding is expected to impact farmland near the river, though no major urban areas are currently at risk. Officials urge residents and motorists to exercise caution, avoid flooded roads, and heed all road closures and barricades.
The NWS reminds drivers: “Turn around, don’t drown.” Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles attempting to cross flooded roads.
