Nashville, TN – A flood advisory remains in effect across several regions of Tennessee as rivers continue to rise due to excessive rainfall, with impacts expected to be felt along the Tennessee River and Cumberland River through the coming week.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Memphis has issued flood advisories for multiple rivers, including the Tennessee River at Perryville and Savannah, as well as the Mississippi River at Helena. Elevated river levels are forecast to persist, particularly in areas such as Pickwick Dam, Savannah, Saltillo, and Johnsonville.
Tennessee River at Savannah: The river is currently hovering just below flood stage at 367.8 feet. It is expected to rise to 368.4 feet, with flooding concerns affecting areas near the north end of Emerald Lane and Hooker’s Bend. Though flood stage is 370 feet, these conditions could continue until further notice.
Tennessee River at Perryville: In Perry County, water is threatening the evacuation road to the boat launch and camping area at Deer Creek Boat Dock Road. The river level is expected to oscillate near the action stage of 362 feet, reaching a peak of 364.2 feet by early Monday morning.
Cumberland River at Dover: Heavy rainfall has caused the Cumberland River to rise, impacting low-lying areas along the river, particularly around River Road and Bellwood Branch Road. The advisory is in effect until Sunday, April 13.
Local authorities urge residents to exercise caution near riverbanks and avoid flooded roadways. The NWS advises taking alternative routes if encountering standing water. For more information and updates, visit weather.gov.
