Memphis, TN – A cold front pushing through Tennessee is bringing showers, scattered thunderstorms, and a risk of damaging winds today. The National Weather Service (NWS) Memphis reports wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph in isolated areas.
According to the NWS, the severe weather threat will continue between 2 PM and 9 PM. While widespread storms are not expected, damaging winds and small hail remain possible. The system’s strongest impact will be felt in portions of western and central Tennessee.
Officials urge residents to monitor forecasts and remain prepared. Low confidence exists for significant storm development, but strong winds can cause power outages or property damage.
NWS advises having a shelter plan and multiple ways to receive alerts, including weather apps or emergency radio systems.
Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during peak weather hours, and stay updated on local advisories.
