Jonesborough, TN – A Washington County man and his father were taken into custody this week after deputies allege he chased his estranged wife and endangered children during a domestic incident.
According to Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies responded to a call around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Bob Crookshanks Road. The victim told dispatchers she was being followed by her estranged husband, identified as Gary Wayne Necessary III, 35.
Deputies said the victim explained she had gone to Necessary’s residence to drop off one of her three children, but alleged Necessary appeared intoxicated. She told authorities she left the home with all three children, and that Necessary pursued her in his vehicle, tailgating and striking her car.
Deputies located Necessary around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop. His father, Gary Wayne Necessary Jr., 54, was allegedly driving the vehicle at the time. Authorities charged Necessary III with three counts of aggravated child abuse, aggravated domestic assault, and vandalism. He is being held without bond at the Washington County Detention Center. His first court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 4.
Authorities said Necessary Jr. is accused of helping his son evade deputies. He was charged with accessory after the fact and booked on a $10,000 bond. He is also scheduled to appear in court Sept. 4.
The sheriff’s office stated both cases remain under investigation.
