Nashville, TN – A Nashville man is in custody after police say he is connected to a fatal shooting outside a convenience store Saturday morning.

According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Specialized Investigations Division detectives arrested Timothy Lamar Williams, 36, at a Cheyenne Boulevard apartment on Saturday. Williams is charged with criminal homicide in the death of 25-year-old Chris Bond II.

Police said the shooting occurred outside the Mapco store on Neelys Bend Road shortly before 10 a.m. Investigators believe Bond and the alleged gunman engaged in a brief verbal dispute near the shooter’s car moments before shots were fired. Witnesses told officers that Bond had been asking people in the parking lot for a ride and was reportedly acting in a disorderly manner.

Following the gunfire, the suspect fled in his vehicle. Madison Precinct officers arrived quickly and provided emergency aid to Bond, who was later pronounced dead at Skyline Medical Center.

Homicide detectives reported they are pursuing what they describe as strong leads in the case as the investigation continues. Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.

Williams remains in custody pending further legal proceedings. Police have urged anyone with additional information to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
