Sevierville, TN – The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office is thanking the community after collecting roughly 80 pounds of unused prescription medications during a recent DEA National Prescription Drug Takeback Event. The nationwide initiative aims to prevent misuse and abuse by offering residents a safe way to dispose of old or unwanted prescriptions.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, local deputies and reserve members helped facilitate the event, which drew strong public participation across Sevier County. The department credited Reserve Division members Jose Morales, Nilda Morales, Kevin Boone, and Rob Taylor for assisting with the collection effort.
The event is part of an ongoing national campaign to reduce the availability of medications that could otherwise contribute to substance misuse. The sheriff’s office emphasized that community engagement remains key in keeping prescription drugs off the streets.
Even outside of special events, residents can safely dispose of unwanted or expired medications year-round. A 24/7 drop-off bin is available inside the dispatch lobby of the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, located at 106 W. Bruce Street in downtown Sevierville. Authorities remind residents not to place liquids or syringes in the disposal container.
This initiative continues to highlight the importance of responsible drug disposal and community partnership in promoting local safety.
