Blountville, TN – Families across Sullivan County are invited to take part in the annual Toys From Cops event this Saturday, December 13, as the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Auxiliary brings back its holiday gift giveaway in a drive-thru format at Sullivan Central Middle School.
According to the sheriff’s office, the event will run in the school’s parking lot at 131 Shipley Ferry Road and follow the same structure as last year to keep the process fast and organized. Children who received an invitation can pick up their gifts between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Adults accompanying children must bring the official invitation along with identification showing residency in Sullivan County.
Officials said that any remaining gifts will be distributed to families without invitations beginning at 11:30 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m. A valid Sullivan County ID is required for this portion of the distribution as well.
To speed up traffic flow, organizers ask families participating in the drive-thru to arrive with their vehicle trunks empty, allowing deputies and volunteers to load items quickly and safely.
Sheriff Jeff Cassidy said the department looks forward to the event each year. “I have looked forward to this day all year. The SCSO Auxiliary has done a great job preparing and we are ready to see the smiles on the faces of these children,” he said.
