Memphis, TN – A powerful cold front will bring severe weather to Tennessee on Saturday, with heavy rain and strong storms expected. The Mid-South could see 2 to 5 inches of rain, with localized higher amounts.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, flash flooding is likely, especially in western Tennessee. Storms may bring damaging winds, hail, and the possibility of tornadoes. The heaviest rainfall is expected from Saturday morning through late evening.

Residents should prepare for potential flooding and hazardous road conditions. The Weather Prediction Center has placed parts of Tennessee in a Level 3 risk zone for flash floods. Authorities advise against driving through flooded roads.

Emergency officials recommend securing outdoor items, monitoring weather updates, and having a safety plan in place. Power outages are possible due to high winds and falling trees.

The storm system will move northeast by Sunday, but lingering showers could continue into early next week.
