Memphis, TN – A dangerous Arctic blast will grip Tennessee tonight, bringing life-threatening wind chills and icy conditions before a warming trend arrives this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, an Extreme Cold Warning is in effect from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday, with wind chills as low as -8°F. A Winter Storm Warning remains until noon today, with additional snowfall up to one inch expected. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel and frostbite risks.

Thursday will remain bitterly cold, with highs around 24°F and wind chills near zero. Nighttime temperatures will drop to 11°F before a gradual warm-up begins Friday. By the weekend, highs will reach 40°F, signaling a shift away from Arctic air.

Travelers should use caution, especially on I-240 and I-40, where slick roads could cause delays. Those venturing outdoors should dress in layers, covering exposed skin to prevent frostbite. Warmer weather is on the way, but for now, Tennessee faces another brutal night.
